This is from the 5th lecture (out of 10), which Dr.Jasser teaches as a “Contemporary Islamic Law” graduate course. He presented here a detailed analysis of the maqasid of the Quranic language; tacit meanings, various readings/qira’aat of the ayaat, Quranic techniques of eloquence and expression, and the maqasid of the Surahs/chapters. The outcome Quranic maqasid list is a large web of highly interconnected meanings that are not amenable to the usual fiqhi hierarchies of maqasid.
